UCU has a national Fighting Fund to support members involved in disputes, including the provision of strike pay where appropriate. However, it does not always provide cover for every day of a dispute.
A local CCCU UCU Hardship Fund was set up to support members for additional days not covered by the national fund, who would otherwise experience financial hardship through taking legal industrial action. In accordance with a previous branch motion, 75% of the small local subscription fee we charge on top of the national subscription fee, goes into the Hardship Fund. Additionally, individuals can make a donation directly to the fund. Click here to donate.
Members should claim from the national fund up to the capped limits in the first instance, and then apply to the local fund for a contribution to cover any additional days.
How to claim:
Details of how to apply to the CCCU UCU Hardship Fund will be available prior to the opening of a particular application window to coincide with a period of industrial action. The Hardship Fund Terms & Conditions can be found here.
The CCCU UCU Hardship Fund has previously supported members who took part in the 2023 Marking and Assessment Boycott.
